Personio is the HR and payroll platform built for European mid-market companies. It pulls core HR, recruiting, onboarding, time tracking, absences, and payroll into one record so people teams stop running operations from spreadsheets and email threads.

Personio is the HR backbone for European mid-market companies. It is the system most often picked when a 100 to 1,000 person business outgrows spreadsheets and BambooHR-style tools but is not ready for a Workday rollout. What Personio Does

Personio is organised around a single employee record. Recruiting, core HR, payroll, time, and performance all read from and write to the same file, so the data never drifts between systems. It is sold in two software tiers (Core and CorePro) with optional Apps layered on top.

Personio's AI and Conversations

Personio Conversations is the AI layer for HR Q&A. Employees ask questions in natural language (about leave balances, policy, payslips, parental leave rules) and the assistant answers using the company's actual policies and the employee's own data. People analytics is also moving toward AI-assisted insight generation, so HR leads can ask questions of their headcount and attrition data without building bespoke reports. The net effect is that HR stops being the helpdesk for the same fifteen questions.
